LaterMail - A mail autoresponder
The problem
I get quite a lot of mail. Not as much as some other people, but
enough for it to be a problem sometimes.
I quite often get mail that I know that I will answer, but I also know
it really doesn't matter if I answer it now or in a week. The problem
is that the mail tends to get lost among all the other mails that
arrive at the same time.
So, I put the mails that should be answered in a special folder and
answer them from time to time. That's half the solution.
Since mail is such a fast message medium, people tend to get worried
if they don't get an answer for some time. LaterMail will solve that
problem.
What does LaterMail do?
Latermail will send a small note to the original sender of each
message in the later-folder. The note is of course customizable, and
the amount of time that must pass before the message is sent is also
configurable.
But won't this produce a lot of junk mail?
That depends on your definition of junk mail. I communicate with a lot
of newbies, and I think they appreciate that some kind of lifesign
comes back after a while when they send a question to me.
As all tools, it should be used with care.
What does it require to run?
Python 1.5.2
Where do I get it?
here.
Is there a manual?
Nope, Use The Source Luke. Actually, chmod a+x and run it without
options. That will give you enough.
